Home Remodeling
in Boulder, Colorado
Your home, reworked for the way you actually live.
Remodeling is personal. You've lived in the house long enough to know what works and what doesn't, and now you're ready to do something about it. Maybe the kitchen's too small for how you cook. Maybe the upstairs layout made sense when the kids were six but is useless now. Maybe the house has beautiful bones but somebody put a terrible addition on it in 1987. If you're starting fresh on a lot instead, we also work as custom home builders in Boulder, Colorado. Whatever's driving your project, it deserves a contractor who treats your home with the same care you do.
That's the part we take most seriously. We're in your space, often while you're still living in it. We show up on time. We clean up at the end of the day. And when we find something weird in the walls (and on a remodel we always do), you hear from us first, with pictures, with the numbers, and with a plan.
What we take on
Some projects are straightforward. Others are layered and complex. We do both.
Historic homes, including work under the City of Boulder's Historic Preservation guidelines
Whole-home renovations, down to the studs when that's what it takes
Additions, including primary suites, bump-outs, second-story pops, and garage conversions
Kitchens and baths with real finish craftsmanship
Smaller projects when the fit is right (built-ins, fireplaces, finish upgrades, custom cabinetry)
Basement refinishes, with full detail on our basement refinishing in Boulder page.
How your remodel goes
The project starts the way all our projects start. A site visit, an honest conversation, and a detailed estimate with scope and phasing written out so you know what's coming. We call that part PSA Planning, and it's where we do the real work of catching problems before they're expensive.
Once we're building, you live in our TLC online portal. You'll see selections, schedule updates, and progress photos whenever you want them. Most of our clients check it two or three times a week. Some check it every morning with coffee. Both are fine.
Paul runs the site. Chad keeps the schedule and the budget tight. I'm around. If something changes, and on remodels occasionally something does, we tell you right away, not at the end of the month.
If your home is historic
Boulder has a lot of homes worth preserving. Mapleton Hill. Whittier. Chautauqua. University Hill. We've worked within the Historic Preservation Design Guidelines set by the City of Boulder, and we know how to make old houses livable without stripping out what makes them worth living in. If your home is in a historic district or on the landmark list, we can help you navigate the review process instead of fighting it.
A recent project
A past client came to us for built-in cabinets in a family room and a small powder bath update.
As the first phase finished, we kept finding more we could do. Four fireplaces updated. Sand-and-finish on original flooring. A Level 5 drywall job. A new primary bath, a billiard room, a veneer garage door, and a heated slab.
The final project came in around $1M, all within the City of Boulder's Historic Preservation framework.
Where we remodel
From our Boulder office, we take on remodels across the Front Range. Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, Superior, Broomfield, Lyons, Niwot, Gunbarrel, and across Boulder, Broomfield, Jefferson, Larimer, Weld, Adams, and Denver counties.
What clients say
-
My husband and I hired Tight Lines to do a bathroom remodel in our house, and were very satisfied with the entire experience. Landon was invaluable in working with us to plan the design we wanted for the space, and the whole Tight Lines crew did a great job - they were courteous, professional, and answered any questions we had about the work during the process. Our new bathroom looks amazing; we would definitely hire them again!

We were very happy with the team from Tight Lines Construction. Each of the team members was very talented and thoughtful throughout our large residential rebuild project in Boulder. Would highly recommend them without any reservation. Great communication, fair pricing and lots of value add on many issues that were known and unknown.
